Srinagar, Jun 19 : The weekend lockdown was once again imposed across Jammu and Kashmir in an order to prevent the deadly virus from spreading. However, police claimed that it has arrested 15 persons and realized a fine of over 6.50 lakh in the last 24 hours for flouting the Covid norms in Kashmir.
Witnesses told the news agency that all the shops and business establishments remained closed as per the government order while police and paramilitary forces were deployed on roads in several areas to enforce the lockdown.
A police spokesman in a statement issued here said that during the last 24 hours, Police have arrested 15 persons, lodged 10 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of Rs 6,57,300 from 3986 people throughout the Kashmir for violating the various guidelines, rules and SOPs regarding Covid-19.
“The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines and rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic,” police said.
Meanwhile, police urged people to cooperate in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs, guidelines and protocols for their own safety and for the safety of others. “The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures,” police said
