1st dengue case detected in Kashmir as 20-yr-old B’pora boy tests positive

Srinagar, Oct 26 : A first case of dengue infection was detected in Kashmir after a 20-year-old boy from Bandipora was tested positive at SKIMS hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday, officials said.

Officials told the news agency that the boy (name withheld) of Ajar, Bandipora was brought to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura here, complaining of high fever.

“Soon after the patient was tested positive for dengue infection, he was admitted and is being treated at JVC hospital Bemina,” they said, adding the patient had returned from Chandigarh recently.

Dengue fever, commonly known as break bone fever is a flu-like illness caused by the Dengue virus
