Jammu, Oct 15 (UNI): As many as 1000 athletes will be competing in the three-day 34th North Zone Junior Athletics Championship commenced at first ever Synthetic Athletic Track at University of Jammu here.
As per the official communiqué, the North Zone Junior Athletics Championship is being organised after a lapse of almost 32 Years.
“About 1000 Athletes and officials from nine states and UT’s are taking part in the championship which was declared open by Kavinder Gupta, Former Speaker and Deputy Chief Minister J& K and B S Baeloria Deputy Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation,” Sharat Chander Singh, Organizing Secretary of the Championship and General Secretary J&K Athletics Association said.
The dignitaries including the sports luminaries representing various disciplines from J&K UT appreciated the efforts of J&K Athletics Association. They gave a brief account of formation of J&K Athletics Association and performance shown by J&K UT Athletes in the National and International event.
They also appreciated the efforts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports and J&K Sports Council for laying out synthetic Track at Jammu University Ground.
He said that all Athletes and officials, about 1000 of them, were completely satisfied, when contacted about the arrangement made by J&K Amateur Athletics Association including Boarding and Lodging and appreciated the efforts of the Association.
Suneel Mahajan, President J&K Athletics Association extended thanks to Jammu University, Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K Sports Council, J&K Police and Media and all others who helped and cooperated to make the championship a grand success.
