Locals Stage Protest, Claim PHC Buffliaz Was Locked When They Reached With Injured Persons

Srinagar, May 4 : A boy died and another person sustained injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident along Bufliaz Thanamandi road in Rajouri district this afternoon.

Reports reaching GNS said that an Eeco vehicle bearing registration number JK12B-1230 met with an accident at Kholaya Bufliaz on Thanamandi, resulting in injuries to two persons. The duo was removed from the site and taken to SDH Surankote, however one among the two persons with critical injuries was declared dead on arrival by the doctors there.

An official identified the deceased as 12-year-old Umar Khan son of Showket Amin, resident of Sawani and the injured as 50-year-old Chaudhary Fazal Ahmed son of Faiz Mohd, also resident of Sawani. “The injured person, driver of the vehicle, is undergoing treatment”, the official told GNS.

SHO Surankote Niaz Ahmed has also confirmed about the incident and said that a team is on the occurrence site.

Meanwhile, locals in the area staged a protest against local medical authorities, claiming that PHC Buffliaz was locked when they reached the health facility with the injured persons. “Once we reached the PHC with injured persons, we found it locked”, a group of locals led by Sarpanch Bufliaz, Amjad Khan told GNS, adding “We had to take the injured duo all along to SDH Surankote in Poonch.

“Had the boy received treatment on time, his life could have saved”, they said and demanded strict action against the doctors posted at PHC Buffliaz. (GNS)
