Srinagar, Dec 29: The government has directed the staff of School Education Department to continue to help the administration in preventing the transmission of new COVID-19 variant Omicron.
According to the news agency, the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction has said, that the divisional commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir and concerned deputy commissioners have setup COVID-19 Control Rooms and have deployed staff of School Education Department for containment management of COVID-19 outbreak in the Jammu and Kashmir.
The State Executive Committee (SEC) in an order has said, “The School Education Department on December-10 had ordered the cancellation of attachment of all teaching staff that were been deployed or attached for different administrative works in different departments and districts of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The committee however said that a detailed review meeting regarding current COVID-19 situation was held in Jammu by the Chief Secretary (Chairman SEC) of Jammu and Kashmir wherein it was decided that there is a need to continue and further strengthen the existing COVID-19 containment measures in all districts in view of newly discovered Variant B.1.1.529 (Omicron).
“Therefore the State Executive Committee (SEC), in exercise of powers conferred upon it under the section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 orders that deployment of additional staff for COVID -19 containment or mitigation efforts by concerned District Disaster Management Authorities shall continue in the Jammu and Kashmir,” reads the order.
The order further states that “The deployment shall be for a period of three months only and not more than one staff member from a single School shall be deployed. “Deployment shall be of non-repetitive staff members.”
