COVID-19: Two die; 137 fresh cases reported in J&K

Srinagar records 51 cases, case tally at 340,598 death toll reaches to 4,521, active cases reaches to 1,355, recovery rate at 98.27 percent

Srinagar, Dec 25: Jammu and Kashmir Saturday reported two more deaths and 164 fresh positive cases of COVID-19, thus taking the number of total active cases in the Union Territory to 1,355.

With two more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached 4,521 and 164 fresh positive cases reported on Saturday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 340,598.

Of the exact number of 340,598 cases, 214,587 are from Kashmir division and 126,011 from Jammu division.

Officials told the news agency that among 164 new cases, 124 belong to Kashmir division while as 40 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 214,587 including 211,256 recoveries and 2,325 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 126,011 including 123,466 recoveries and 2,196 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,355 including 1,006 from Kashmir division and 349 from Jammu division.

With 124 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 334,722 which is 98.27 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 51 from Srinagar, 29 from Baramulla, 09 from Budgam, 08 from Pulwama, 03 from Kupwara, 00 from Anantnag, 06 from Bandipora, 16 from Ganderbal, 01 each from Kulgam and 01 Shopian in Kashmir division while as 40 from Jammu division include 19 from Jammu division, 04 from Udhampur, 01 from Rajouri, 05 from Doda, 01 from Kathua, 01 from Samba, 05 from Kishtwar, 04 from Poonch, 00 from Ramban and 00 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities said that no fresh cases of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally stands at 50.

As per officials figures, 78,559 positive cases including 881 deaths and 77,203 recoveries are from Srinagar, 25,915 including 290 deaths and 25,450 recoveries are from Baramulla, 24,454 including 24,190 recoveries and 216 deaths are from Budgam, 15,705 including 15,474 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,943 including 167 deaths and 14,706 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,730 including 16,501 recoveries and 208 deaths are from Anantnag, 10,159 cases including 9,989 and 111 deaths are from Bandipora, 10,960 including 10,770 recoveries and 81 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,544 including 11,416 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,618 including 5,557 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 54,081 including 52,696 recoveries and 1,156 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,469 including 11,321 recoveries and 138 deaths are from Udhampur, 11,372 including 11,120 recoveries and 239 deaths are from Rajouri, 8,025 including 7,856 recoveries and 136 deaths are from Doda, 9,381 including 9,219 recoveries and 153 deaths are from Kathua, 7,175 including 7,051 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 4,853 including 4,798 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,589 including 6,471 recoveries and 100 deaths are from Poonch, 6,069 including 5,998 recoveries and 67 deaths are from Ramban and 6,997 including 6,936 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 5,089,495 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,225 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1,355 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 4,642,899 persons have completed the surveillance period and 432,495 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 18,972,743 samples are available. Out of 18,972,743 the number of samples tested negative stands at 18,632,145 while as 340,598 have tested positive, among them 1,355 persons are active, 334,722 persons have recovered and 4,521 persons have died
