Pulwama, Jun 14: Farmers in several parts of Kashmir are in a dilemma as they are unable to decide about cultivation in the face of shortage of water.

Farmers from different areas of Kashmir told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they are unable to decide whether to wait until water schemes are made functional or plant some other crop.

They said that for paddy cultivation only a few days are left now as June 21 marks the end of the sowing season and they are waiting for some miracle to happen.

An official in the Agriculture Department told KNO that they are unable to make dozens of schemes functional because of low water levels in rivers.

He added that farmers shouldn’t wait anymore now and they must follow the advisory issued by the department.
