Covid-19: J&K reports 24 deaths, 1,718 positive cases*

Srinagar reports 320 positive cases; Case tally at 294,078, death toll mounts to 3,963, active cases increase to 31,579, recovery rate at 87.91 percent

Srinagar, Jun 02 : The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Wednesday witnessed 24 deaths due to Covid-19 while as 1,718 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 31,579

With 24 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 3,963 and 1,718 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 2924,078.

Of the exact number of 294,078 cases, 181,133 are from Kashmir division and 112,945 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,718 new cases, 1,133 belong to Kashmir division while as 585 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 181,133 including 159,003 recoveries and 2,031 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 112,945 including 99,533 recoveries and 1,932 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 31,579 including 20,099 from Kashmir division and 11,480 from Jammu division.

With 3,391 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 258,536 which is 87.91 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 320 from Srinagar, 102 from Baramulla, 137 from Budgam, 158 from Pulwama, 90 from Kupwara, 103 from Anantnag, 62 from Bandipora, 53 from Ganderbal, 81 from Kulgam and 27 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 585 from Jammu division include 169 from Jammu, 57 from Udhampur, 75 from Rajouri, 52 from Doda, 25 from Kathua, 41 from Samba, 33 from Kishtwar, 62 from Poonch, 49 from Ramban and 22 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Out of 24 deaths reported today, 01 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Rajouri, 03 in GMC Kathua, 01 in MH Satwari Jammu, 02 in Home/ Brought Dead, 03 in SMHS Sgr, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 01 in DH Bandipora, 01 in CD Hosp Srinagar, 01 in Govt GB Pant Hosp Srinagar, 01 in CHC Kupwara, 04 in GMC Anantnag, 01 in GMC Baramulla & 01 in DH Kulgam.

As per officials figures, 65,787 positive cases including 781 deaths and 61,135 recoveries are from Srinagar, 21,590 including 261 deaths and 18,948 recoveries are from Baramulla, 20,554 including 18,496 recoveries and 180 deaths are from Budgam, 13,399 including 11,062 recoveries and 171 deaths are from Pulwama, 12,268 including 147 deaths and 10,346 recoveries are from Kupwara, 14,741 including 11,032 recoveries and 167 deaths are from Anantnag, 8,551 cases including 7,653 and 94 deaths are from Bandipora, 8,858 including 7,644 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,024 including 8,488 recoveries and 106 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,361 including 4,199 recoveries and 55 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 51,062 including 44,973 recoveries and 1,078 deaths are from Jammu district, 10,696 including 1,0017 recoveries and 126 deaths are from Udhampur, 9,817 including 8,596 recoveries and 188 deaths are from Rajouri, 5,836 including 4,659 recoveries and 90 deaths are from Doda, 8,830 including 8,316 recoveries and 135 deaths are from Kathua, 6,817 including 5,610 recoveries and 112 deaths are from Samba, 4,046 including 3,783 recoveries and 34 deaths are from Kishtwar, 5,329 including 4,321 recoveries and 79 deaths are from Poonch, 5,176 including 4,387 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Ramban and 5,336 including 4,871 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,109,281 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 81,451 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 31,579 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,845,543 persons have completed the surveillance period and 146,745 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 8,652,026 samples are available. Out of 8,652,026 the number of samples tested negative stands at 8,355,948 while as 294,078 have tested positive, among them 31,579 persons are active, 258,536 persons have recovered and 3,963 persons have died—(KNO)
