Tral, 24 March: As a part of awareness among the faculty and students of GDC Tral, Red Ribbon Club and NSS Units of the college organised a seminar on World TB Day.
The programme started with an introduction cum welcome address by Dr Fayaz Ahmad Malla (Convenor Red Ribbon Club).
In his brief talk he welcomed the dignitaries and resources persons and gave an overview of the importance of commemorating the World TB Day.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr Showkat Ahmad Dar (Staff Secretary) in which he deliberated on the various statistics related to TB.
He also highlighted the various welfare schemes launched by the government to support the patients involved in dreadful disease.
The inaugural address was delivered by the worthy Principal of the college, Prof (Dr) Mohammad Farooq Mir. In his talk he gave a comprehensive outline of Tuberculosis.
He enlightened the audience about the brief history of TB and about the various ways by which this disease spreads, & deliberated upon the nexus of climate, lifestyle, and financial status with Tuberculosis. He also talked about the ways by which this disease could be cured.
The technical session started with presentation by Dr Shaheen Khurshid (HoD Zoology, GDC Tral). In his presentation, he talked about the various types of TB, their symptoms, and the ways by which it can be cured. He highlighted the role of climate in curing this disease.
The second presentation was delivered by Dr Khan Mubashir Qayoom (HoD Biochemistry, GDC Tral). In his presentation, he pointed out various ways by which TB is tested and treated. He named the various drugs/ medicines which are currently in vogue for treating this dreadful and highly contagious disease.
The entire session was moderated by Dr Fayaz Ahmad Malla (Convenor Red Ribbon Club) and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Muhammad Aabid Shah, NSS Programme Officer.
