Cairo, Oct 17 (UNI): Israeli armed forces allegedly shelled several villages and areas on the Lebanese border overnight using phosphorus munitions on Tuesday.
The media accused Israel of shelling civilian homes in the Ed Douair area, which left some people injured.
The victims were taken to hospitals of the city of Tyre, the news agency added.
Human Rights Watch said on Thursday that Israel used white phosphorus weapons against Gaza and Lebanon during hostilities following Hamas’ incursion on October 7 and subsequent rocket attacks.
Last Tuesday, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry accused the Israeli armed forces of using ammunition with white phosphorus.
However, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said the organization was not aware of any reports on Israel’s possible use of such weapons.
