New Delhi: A prayer for world peace was held at the Rajghat, Mahatma Gandhi Samadhi, in New Delhi few days back, where participants demanded an end to the Ukraine war.
As per the press release, the event was jointly organized by the National Voluntary Organizations, The National Child Development Council (NCDC) and The Indian Society for Literacy Development (ISLD).
The press release reads that, “Many people from different parts of the country took part in the peace protests and silent prayers in the country’s capital.”
NCDC Master Trainer and Global Goodwill Ambassador, Baba Alexander, The ISLD President, K. P. Hareendran Achari, Delhi Santhigiri Ashram head, Swami Sayoojyanath, International Center for Education & Training Limited (ICET) Director, Thomas K. L., NCDC Delhi Office Manager, Renjith Varghese, Baldev Singh, Adv. Subthirtha Ranjan, NCDC Faculty, Yomichon Rangoi led the function.
Distress Management Collective Chairperson, Adv. Deepa Joseph led the prayers for all the victims of the war.
Baba Alexander said that the possibility of world war was hanging over the world like the sword of Damocles and that another world war might wipe out all living things from this earth.
He said that the progress and development made by the world so far should not be subjugated to any war-greedy ruler and therefore all the people should take part in the protest against the war.
According to the organizers, “Mahatma Gandhi’s tomb was chosen for this anti-war silent protest and peace prayers because he was the flag bearer of non-violence and peace.”
The peace protesters had unanimously demanded an immediate end to the Ukraine war, said the program coordinator Dr. Shruthi Ganesh.
